Social Stories
For those who are unfamiliar, the idea of "Social Stories" was created by Carol Gray, a teacher in Michigan. The premise is to take a concept that is difficult for the student to understand abstractly and tell a concrete story about it. For more information, please go to Carol's website: www.thegraycenter.org.
I am going to start posting the social stories that I write for my clients (no real names, of course!). Please feel free to use them "as is" or adapt them to your situaton. If you happen to find any of them useful - please send me an email to tell me about it! I would love to know how my stories are being used. If you have a story that you would like to add to my collection, send it to me and I will post it. Educators sometimes feel like they have to "re-invent the wheel" for everything. Let's save each other the headache and share what works!

Bus Story
This is a story written for a very bright first grade boy who was having some trouble on the school bus. He had a tough time controlling his body and tended to talk a little more than his bus-mates would have liked! The story presents some practical ideas to help him endure the ride home. It may be a little long for some, but was just right for him. I tried to save paper by putting (2) small "pages" per 8x11" piece of paper. After printing, you might want to cut them so only one idea is stated per page.
Sorry about the very “low-tech” presentation of the download icons. This IS a free website!
