Early Childhood Specialist
Julie has been working with children who have special needs since 1991. With clinical experiences that range from early intervention to preschool and kindergarten, Julie has worked in homes, child-care settings, public and private preschools, and in public Kindergarten classrooms. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Child Development and has done graduate work in the fields of Early Childhood Special Education and Autism Spectrum Disorders. No less important to establishing her credentials are her own two children, who have ensured that she is no stranger to sensory processing or anxiety issues!
The autism spectrum became an area of clinical interest for Julie in 2004. At that time she began to study different approaches to intervention and use them with her clients. She quickly realized that there is no "one size fits all" model for teaching children on the autism spectrum. Each child and each family has unique strengths, challenges, and circumstances. While her strategies are based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Julie believes that keeping an open mind is critical to successful intervention.
August 2008 - Julie is now an approved service provider for the Massachusetts DMR Autism Waiver Program
